Week XII assignment

'' Yellow Woman and a Beauty of the Spirit''

The short book which is written by Leslie Marmon Silko and it is divided into different chapters where we  have the description of the Pueblo people. The author describes in brief details of what happened on that time and also the place where they lived. I read it and I liked because it has used an interesting style of writing and a understanding language.
In the chapter that is described the yellow woman the author says to us that she is her favorite because she dares to cross traditional boundaries of ordinary behavior during times of crisis in order to save the Pueblo.
The author was different by her people because she is a mixed Indian and white, for this reason she was faced  with racism since that time. I want to emphasize two situations where she was faced with racism.
''It was at school  that I learned just how different I looked from my classmates''.
''Not you'' he said and motioned for me to step away from my classmates. I felt so embarrassed that I wanted to disappear.
Her the author is faced with racism and she is felt very bad but we learn by her that in some circumstances she is kind of used with that situation.
She is discriminated by other people just by the reason that she is mixed Indian but what surprised me the most is that she is not  discriminated to much by her own people. They do not consider beauty a good body but the health is more important for them.
In my personal opinion this is a great book and I learn a message by the author that we should adapt with the circumstances. Also, what is important is the quality of the spirit, what has inside  and that makes all women and yellow woman beautiful.
