The Life You Save May Be Your Own
The whole story is fill with irony, there are three characters which two of them are selfish, egoist people while one of them is just the victim of these two ther people. The story begins with a man named Mr. Shiftlet who arrives at a farm where a old women and her deaf-mute daughter, Lucynell are sitting on the front of the porch. Mr. shiftlet persuades the old women to hire him for work around the farm and for repairing a car in exchange for a room. During the following week he repairs the car and offers to marry Lucynell if her mother will give him some money.Her mother accepts his ''offer''. without getting the opinion of her daughter. In this agreement the girl is seemed to be as a object that can be bought. But haw can a mother accept it to marry her daughter even that she was a divisibility person. She looks that she wanted to be free from her disability.
At the end the two characters gets what they wanted,while Lucynell us left dozibg in some dinner,unable to communicateand miles fron home .
