AIN'T I A WOMAN?
The poem is written by Sojourner Truth in the years when women were slaves. When I started to read the poem it gives me different emotions because we understand that the rights of the men's and women are not equal and that men are dominate. In this poem the author shares with us her personal experience. Also, in this story we see how black women are an object of discrimination and Sojourner by adding these personal anecdotes, Sojourner invites her audience who are mostly women suffering from their own forms of discrimination, to realize the injustices of which they are too victims. Also, we have the description of her life how she had born 13 children and all of her children were included into slavery. There is nothing more painful than a mother seeing her children into slavery. In my opinion I think that Sojourner did a great thing by publishing this poem because maybe it has brought a difference in the society and why not supporting women that share the same luck.

ReplyDeleteI read your work and I think that you have explained very work the poem.I agre with you about the way that even children were treated during the slavery and how difficult was for a mother to face with the suffering of their children.
ReplyDeleteAfter I read your analysis of the poem i think you have done a good job.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with Gentiana, mainly because in the poem the author indeed mentions that the rights between men and women are not equal and she talks about her personal life experience. Also, Gentiana gave her opinion about slavery and i think this is true , that is the worst thing seeing a mother her children into slavery.
